Raetta’s Pepper Sauce
Raetta enjoys this pepper sauce in greens, peas, on cornbread, and in BBQ sauce. She makes it from her homegrown peppers – any type will work.
- Cut off the stem end of the peppers (so that the vinegar can flow inside) and place them in the bottle.
- Add white vinegar to the bottle to portion out how much is needed. Pour that vinegar from the bottle to a pot and heat just to a steam (do not boil: it’s not necessary and you don’t want to breathe concentrated acetic acid).
- Pour the hot vinegar back into the bottle over the peppers.
- Let sit for two weeks before using.
