Cat adoptions 50% off at shelter

Starting Saturday, July 6, cat and kitten adoption fees will be discounted 50% at the Animal Adoption Center of Blount County. The discount will continue through Saturday, July 13, or until funds are exhausted.

During this time adopters can bring home a feline friend for just $25–35 or enjoy 2-for-1 pricing for a pair, while helping the shelter make room for more cats and kittens.

The adoption fee includes vaccinations, treatments for intestinal parasites and fleas, and spay or neuter. Microchipping, which provides a permanent identification so long as the owner's contact information is kept current, is available for $10 additional.

This 50% discount is made possible by long-time shelter supporters Angel Jackson of Boaz, Alfred L. Custred of Pinson, and Bess Parks of Highland Lake. "I want to do what I can to let the people who work there know that they are appreciated," Parks said.

If you would like to adopt a pet or meet the shelter's cats and dogs, the Animal Adoption Center of Blount County welcomes visitors Tuesday through Friday from 11–4:30 and Saturday from 9–2. The shelter is located at 5554 County Highway 1 in Cleveland and can be reached at 205-625-6026.
