At October’s Bluegrass Jamboree, the headlining band will be joined by Gary Waldrep, an accomplished musician, entertainer, and music instructor who has played professionally with the Gary Waldrep Band in nearly every state of the US and across Canada. Gary is a 2009 Alabama Bluegrass Music Association Hall of Fame Inductee and a 2018 inductee in the Boaz High School Hall of Fame. He teaches all stringed instruments to musicians young and old. The Alabama State Council on the Arts named Gary Alabama’s youngest master musician. His band the Sand Mountain Boys was the recipient of the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music Award and the Fans’ Choice Award from the Bluegrass Music Association. Gary was named the Old Time Banjo Player of the Year, Clawhammer Style, in both 1993 and 1994. With his sister Susan, he has hosted the Festival on the Farm since 1994. He debuted at the Grand Old Opre house in 2017, in a highlight of his career.
