Pine Mountain Community Center
purpose of the community center
In December 1969, the former Blount Highlands 2-room schoolhouse became Pine Mountain Community Center. The founders tasked a Board of Directors with carrying out the organization’s purpose to “provide a central location for community projects and activities,” including “making available to the residents of the community and to any other organization, space in its building in which to conduct recreational and other types of community activities.” [Sources: PMCC Articles of Incorporation and Articles of Amendment]

pmcc documents
The Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws are PMCC’s governing documents, dating to the organization's establishment in 1969. In Oct. 2022 the Board, when challenged to uphold the Community Center's purpose, instead overhauled this public organization's governing documents. This group of five people redefined the 'community' to remove the majority of the residents that had been included for the past 50 years, closed the meetings, locked down voting, and ceased communication with residents of the area that they purportedly serve.
